How bi-fuel works

One engine. Two fuel options.

Propane autogas is liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) used as a vehicle fuel. A bi-fuel conversion gives a compatible gasoline vehicle a separate propane fuel system while keeping its gasoline system available. The engine runs on gasoline or propane, one fuel at a time.

Keep gasoline available

Plan to use gasoline on routes where propane refueling is inconvenient or unavailable.

Use propane where it fits your routes

Compare local fuel prices, vehicle fuel economy, and access to public or on-site fueling.

Review each vehicle before converting

Start with the year, make, model, and engine. We’ll discuss system availability and installation considerations for that application.

01 / WORK VEHICLES

Pickups & service trucks

For contractors, utilities, and service crews. Review gasoline-powered pickups and service trucks against daily mileage and fueling access.

02 / COMMERCIAL FLEETS

Vans & box trucks

For delivery, distribution, and trades. Compare fuel costs and route coverage for gasoline-powered vans and box trucks.

03 / PUBLIC FLEETS

Police & municipal vehicles

Review gasoline-powered patrol and municipal vehicles with attention to operating schedules, idling, and fueling access.

Application compatibility and conversion availability require review of the specific vehicle, engine, and applicable requirements.

An informed starting point

Build the plan
around your operation.

A useful conversion discussion starts with the details of your fleet and access to propane fueling.

01 — Share your vehicle details

Year, make, model, engine, vehicle count, and location.

02 — Describe your fuel use

Annual mileage, gasoline consumption, fuel prices, and propane access.

03 — Discuss the next step

Review application fit, installation questions, and the information needed to move forward.

Fuel savings and ROI calculator

What could autogas save on your routes?

Compare your gasoline-only fuel cost with a bi-fuel scenario using your own prices, fuel economy, and expected share of miles driven on propane.

Enter annual miles and the upfront conversion cost for one vehicle. The estimate uses fuel savings only. It excludes maintenance, financing, and fueling infrastructure costs. Use vehicle-specific MPG when available.

Enter your fuel and mileage assumptions to see the comparison.
Fueling and fleet planning

Plan where you’ll fill up.

Map propane autogas stations against your regular routes. Confirm operating hours, vehicle access, and payment options with the station. If vehicles return to the same yard, ask your supplier about on-site fleet fueling.

Common questions
Can I still run on gasoline?

Yes. Bi-fuel vehicles retain gasoline operation. The exact fuel selection and switching behavior depend on the installed system.

Can any gasoline vehicle be converted?

Fit depends on the specific vehicle, engine, available conversion system, and applicable requirements. Send us your vehicle details for review.

What affects my fuel savings?

Your local fuel prices, MPG on each fuel, and the share of miles driven on propane determine the fuel cost difference.
